A native of Cleveland, Ohio, John Giarrizzo
lives near Powell, Wyoming, with his wife Rowene
and their two children, Maria and Gianluca.
He is associate professor of art at Northwest
College in Powell, where he has taught for
22 years. One of Wyoming’s most esteemed
artists, he was recently recognized with a
2002 Wyoming Governor’s Arts Award. His
paintings have been the focus of major exhibitions
at the Boise Art Museum, the Salt Lake Art
Center, the Nicolaysen Art Museum, the Yellowstone
Art Center, the Jundt Art Museum, Gonzaga University,
and St. John’s College. He holds a BA
from Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio (cum lade,
1977), and MFA in painting and drawing from
the University of Colorado, Boulder (1981).
